I was fixing a machine with a Gigabyte GA-K8A motherboard in it.
One thing I noticed was that the SATA Maxtor Hard Drive was not being detected and I could not auto detect it in the bios.
To solve this you have to turn RAID off.
To turn off RAID do the following:
1. Power on machine. Press DEL key to get into bios.
2. Go to the Integrated Peripherals menu
3. Look for IDE/Sata RAID Function and disable it.
4. Save and Exit.
Now your SATA drive should be detected. I am assuming this will work on many Gigabyte boards built around the same time as the GA-K8A, hope this helps
